True Joinery Cornwall

Present day

The business is now owned and operated by Martin and his son Joe. Joe is an extremely talented joiner and looks after a team of 2 further joiners and an apprentice joiner. Larger premises were obtained in 2018 in Camborne and all operations are carried out from there.

In April 2019, Martin & Joe set off on a 600-mile steam engine challenge, from staffordshire to cornwall and back, raising money and awareness for mental health charities.

True Joinery was founded in 1947 by the late Bernard True. Bernard served his apprenticeship as a carpenter & joiner in Gravesend in Kent in the 1930s.
From  1941 - 1946 he served his country in the Royal navy during WW2. In 1947 the family moved to St Agnes in Cornwall where the business was established.

Over the next 2 decades Bernard grew the business, branching out into general building work in and around St Agnes and beyond. The 1970s and 1980s saw the business specialising in Bank fitting and joinery. For many years the firm were the main contractors for Lloyds Bank in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Following the recession in the 1980s, the business was scaled down and Bernard retired. Bernard’s son Martin carried on in a smaller operation for many years.
